I did an oracle card reading for us this month from the Earthcraft Oracle, and the message came through unusually direct in a 3-card spread that ended with a GIFT card. This one is especially for those of you in the middle of a creative project, wondering why it’s costing you so much.
Card 1: Past — Sacrifice
You learned somewhere along the way that making the thing you love requires giving something up... your heart, your body, your values, your ideology. That belief goes in the past where it belongs. We’re imagining a future where you don’t have to undo yourself in order to make money, gather abundance, or enjoy your own life.
Reflection questions:
What have you been quietly sacrificing to keep your creative work alive?
Whose idea was it, really, that it had to cost you that much?
What do you finally have access to when you release the idea of having to sacrifice at all?
Card 2: The Present — Ivy
The Ivy card encourages you to reach out, makes friends with what’s nearby, and trust the structures around you to hold you while you grow. This means it’s time to deepen into the relationships that matter and remember to reach out and ask for what you need from others too.
Reflection Questions:
What are the ways you can nourish yourself this month specifically as it relates to people, places, and practices?
Who can you pull closer that opens your heart even wider to the thing you’re meant to make?
Card 3: The Future — You Are Sacred
In this beautiful card where the woman is naked, we’re invited to consider what’s essential in you, because that’s where your sacredness lives, in the crevices of your vulnerability. All of you. We are reminded that this is the beauty waiting on the other side of your creation: you make something that brings joy or shifts a life, and then you get to sit in it, behold it, bask in how you did that.
Reflection Questions:
Can you let yourself enjoy what you’ve already made, before rushing toward the next thing?
Where in your life do you get to be fully seen and treated as sacred?
How can you make space to venture there more intentionally this month?
The Gift Card — Spirit of the West
This card calls us toward the element of water and is recommending you to slow down and rest so you can nourish yourself. While you may feel the collective push right now — move, move, get it done — you’re being asked a quieter question: are you at capacity? There are seasons for making, and seasons for harvesting, maintaining, marinating. August is a transition point. Your job is to figure out which season you’re in and give yourself the gift accordingly. The rest of the world can wait until you’ve got fuel again.
Reflection Questions:
What season are you actually in with your project and which one are you moving into?
What practice or support can you give yourself to transition more intentionally?
What would it look like to give yourself permission not to show up this month?
Final Message:
Release the notion that you have to sacrifice your well-being to create what you’re meant to make. Reach out to the people who are meant to support you. Gather your nourishment. Then create from there.
If something in this reading landed, I’d love to hear from you, comment below so I can witness you and continue the conversation.
